Stand Your Ground!

Sunday Service 01/03/2010

Stand Your Ground!

Ephesians 6:

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,[c] against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore...

The word "stand" is the Greek word: Hestemi. It means:

  • Set- as in concrete
  • Resolved
  • Resolute
  • Stubborn
  • In Military Application: Man your post, stand/remain steady at your post
  • In Essence: Be a BULLDOG! Aggressive, Persistent, and Determined to stand against ALL the wiles/schemes/plans of the Devil!
There are VERY bad things coming for those who are in the World this Year. For many, like myself, this will be among the best years of our lives. However, for many this will be among the worst years. Finances, Governments, Health Care, Natural Disasters, and Crisis of many kinds are coming on a global scale. There are many going to be running for anything that smells stable. There we will be... the GLORIOUS Church...

We will:

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

We WIll be that light the world needs in dark and terrible times. We will be that house built on a rock totally undisturbed by the storm beating down on it. We will be the light on the hill, the salt, the preserving agent. They will come running and we will have an answer for all who ask us:

What is this HOPE you have... in the middle of all this chaos? How can you NOT be worried?

Winston Churchhill said:
"For a nation to try to tax or borrow themselves into prosperity is as a man who stands in a bucket and then tries to list himself up by the handle!"

This Nation, like others, has done just that. That stupid system of finance, based on rules that had to over rule the bible and the US constitution to come about is crashing around us. It is coming down. They will need answers and we will be there to provide for them.

One area I found that has been a weak spot with my ability to stand in life is my emotions. I get "hooked" by kids screaming or customers refusing to listen or understand. I get mad and frustrated because something isn't going the way I wanted it to. Enough is enough. In 2010 I refuse to be disturbed about anything or by anyone! I will be that rock, stable no matter what you say or do.

Word of the Lord to the Church of EMIC, by Pastor George:
"After the dust settles on 2010 you will still be STANDING!"

Standing is NOT a weak term. Not a term of struggle. It's a term with the image of a strong marine being attacked by a child sized enemy. He doesn't smile or laugh. He just stands, strong... cool... collected... able to act... but not in a rush about anything... It's the term and image of an enforcer! More on that later!

"Darrell, what do you mean 'rules that had to over rule the bible AND the US constitution'?"

Darrell's Reading List

Here are some books I've been reading lately:
  • Hacker: The Outlaw Chronicles (here) by Ted Dekker (Author). The story of a young Hacker girl, who went on a wild adventure into the supernatural realm beyond trying to save her mom, but saved her self too in the process.
  • Saint: A Paradise Novel (here) by Ted Dekker (Author). He's an assassin, or is he? He finds a secret to his past that unlocks supernatural abilities, at a cost.

Desktop Email and Calendar Tool Review. I don't want to spend a ton of time on this, but I think it's worth giving my hand to this OVER BLOGGED topic because MOST of the other blogs were helpful to a point, but they were the SAME blog post, almost verbatim, on different websites. Here is my journey. The other day I get fed up trying to boot Outlook and it took awhile to boot up, because my personal computer only has very little RAM and I haven't bothered installing more, and I'm just over it.

I also wanted an email/calendar app for the android phone, which I may have to write about too because I figured that out for now. In case you interested the short of that is that I am using the basic Gmail app for email and Outlook app for that email, and using aCalendar which actually just overlays on top of Google Calendar. So you are really using Google Calendar but aCalendar is a MUCH prettier interface! I was trying to use Outlook calendar but on the Android but they seem det…

The W Story Structure - 4 Sequence Story Structure

Out of everything I've ever read on story structure for fiction writing, the W-Story Structure makes the most sense to me. If you'd rather view these as Acts (3-Act or 4-Act) you can overlay that on this W and it still works.

Glen C. Strathy writes (in much more detail here) in his article, The W-Plot vs. The Dramatica Model of Story Structure. There are four sequences for most stories. Each of the four legs of the W is comprised of a sequence of events that lead the story along to it's natural conclusion.

Sequence 1: setting up the problem (creating tension)Sequence 2: recovering from the problem (new ideas, positive momentum)Sequence 3: deepening of the problemSequence 4: the resolution of the problem (new light or understanding)

Sequence 1: setting up the problem (creating tension)
The Inciting Event (the event that is at the heart of the reason this story happened) may have occurred before your story begins, and often does. In King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017), th…

Interview Skills- An Introduction

Interview Skills- An IntroductionInterviewing is one of the most important skills one can have in the workplace. You cannot move in or up without passing the interview. Yet as important as it is, few people ever take the time to study material on the skills needed to master that process. They go in to an interview, answer the questions as best as they can and hope for the best. However, there IS a process. There is a technique to interviewing. It’s just as important as your resume’, skills, experience, and accomplishments. A good point to make also is this: Even being your very best or THE very best doesn’t mean you will get the position though.  You may be the very best salesman in the company and that may come out swimmingly in the interview. But the fact is the person is not JUST looking for someone who is great at their job. They will also be looking for someone who will make a good “Fit” for that particular position. For Example, if the position is a supervisor working directly und…
