Obedience is BETTER than sacrifice!

John 5
,
6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”
8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.
And that day was the Sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”
11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’”
12 Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” 13 But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”
15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

I don't see, unlike most of the miracles in Jesus earthly ministry, any displayed faith in the man here... in fact Jesus asks him a yes or no question and all he gets from this man is excuses. I'm not asking why you aren't healed I am asking if you want to be! However something must have clicked for this man because he displays a high level of obedience. He not only gets up and carry's his bed, but he carry's it even after some religious people question him on his "rule breaking". There is a high level of trust displayed in this after effect.

Many times you don't need to meditate for years about something as much as you just need to DO what he said DO and DO IT IMMEDIATELY!!!!

We've been teaching our children a phrase that they are required to repeat every time they are disciplined.

"I obey the first time, every time, and I do it with a happy heart."

The funny thing is that as I've taught them to say it I've noticed that I hear it in my own head throughout the day as God is telling me things! THAT is what faith is about. DO IT... JUST DO IT!!!

04.13.10
If we set out to serve God and do His work but get out of touch with Him, the sense of responsibility we feel will be overwhelming and defeating. But if we will only roll back on God the burdens He has placed on us, He will take away that immense feeling of responsibility, replacing it with an awareness and understanding of Himself and His presence.

The W Story Structure - 4 Sequence Story Structure

Out of everything I've ever read on story structure for fiction writing, the W-Story Structure makes the most sense to me. If you'd rather view these as Acts (3-Act or 4-Act) you can overlay that on this W and it still works.

Glen C. Strathy writes (in much more detail here) in his article, The W-Plot vs. The Dramatica Model of Story Structure. There are four sequences for most stories. Each of the four legs of the W is comprised of a sequence of events that lead the story along to it's natural conclusion.

Sequence 1: setting up the problem (creating tension)Sequence 2: recovering from the problem (new ideas, positive momentum)Sequence 3: deepening of the problemSequence 4: the resolution of the problem (new light or understanding)

Sequence 1: setting up the problem (creating tension)
The Inciting Event (the event that is at the heart of the reason this story happened) may have occurred before your story begins, and often does. In King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017), th…

Cashless Society...

Tale of Two Seasons:
As we quickly approach the last days there are two sets of events simultaneously emerging. The one most average Christians know about, and the one fewer know about.
Tribulation: Revelation 13:16He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads...
"The Tribulation", a period of 7 years where the earth will come under tremendous stress. Having been vacated of all the Christians, filled with the Holy Spirit, who are the salt and light, and therefore restraining the darkness; the Prince of this present world's system, Satan, will cause his Anti Christ to emerge.
People will get saved under the preaching of many who knew of the Gospel but didn't believe in their heart or confess with their mouth. There will also be 144,000 Jewish witnesses, from each of the 12 tribes of Israel, who will preach salvation on the earth. Primarily, they will be sent to the people of Israel, and the…

Have you died yet today?

Recently, I said I wasn't religious but I did have a relationship with Jesus. The person replied that is a "textbook" response for a Christian; therefore, I am a Christian; therefore, I am religious.

I have to laugh because "religion" is the dead following of dead traditions. The difference between my two-way relationship with a real living person (Jesus) and a religious person is the difference between a Tree and a Motorcycle. They have nothing to do with one-another.

Yet, I can see how they get it. Religious people would read this passage and see something totally different than I see, yet we read the same passage.
...anyone who has died has been set free from sin... In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus... Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? The Future of Work: Is being a writer (artist, musician, creative) an impractical career?

In a writers group on Facebook, a young writer asked (edited):
How do you respond to family members saying that being a writer is impractical? This is a great question. When I was going to college I stopped pursuing music and theater because it didn't seem to lead to a "practical career". I got bogged down in other things and eventually dropped out (after six years and 78 units). But times are changing and we're in a new type of revolution.

So, what do you think?
What is the future of work? How would you respond?
What is impractical, what does that even mean?First, you reply:
You said 'impractical' when I think you meant 'I'm Practical'. The root of Impractical is Practical, or to be "not-practical". The word practical is derived from the root word PRACTICE.
practicale "of or pertaining to matters of practice; applied,"  All careers require a great deal of practice, hard work, study of the chosen field, and many small wins before th…

FICO, Credit Building, and Credit Cards

FICOSo, I'm still hearing a lot of people say things that are not true, don't make sense, or are just plain bad advice. Credit building is not rocket science. Yes, the formulas and math behind them actually are akin to rocket science math. But some of the basic things the average person needs to know are actually quite simple.
If you want to build credit without paying interest or creating debt read on, or just skip to the bottom to the conclusion. I'm sure you've seen this funny video on TV:

I wrote a post previously about FICO and Credit Decisions, now I want to bring in the focus a little to some basics. The very first things you should know is that THE company that creates your credit score is FICO (the Fair Isaac Corporation). It was started by Bill Fair and Earl Isaac. It is now THE leading credit scoring company on the planet. FICO is the most used credit scoring platform accounting for over 100 BILLION scores sold to date.
