Levels of Change Part One

Foundations Class #2Levels of ChangeBob HampClass can be seen on BobHamp.com Part One Starts with two stories...1. True Story. He had driven out to help his aunt who had a flat tire. He used a metric lug wrench on an American car, it wouldn't work so he forced it, stripping out all the lugs. He used the wrong tools to try to fix the problem and trying harder made it worse.

2. Potty Training Parable. You have an infant and shortly after you realize that the child needs his/her diaper changed. So you change it and it gets dirty again, and you change it, and it gets dirty again... Constant change but nothing changes. Then you get a higher order of change. Potty training. Once the child is potty trained you no longer have to change the messes anymore. A higher order of change has over-ridden the former things.
It is this type of change we are referring to with "Levels" of change. Not levels as in: When I pass 1st grade I will be in 2nd grade. It's not linear ch…

Grace v Purgatory

Study: Purgatory v Grace
Apparently this is an issue that still needs to be settled. Let me settle this right up front.

There is no such thing as Purgatory.
It's not only missing from the bible as a topic, it's directly opposed to the entire life, ministry, message, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Everything Jesus is lays in direct opposition to the concept of Purgatory.

So why is it so prevalent among some churches?
Grace is hard to believe. Grace says that we cannot earn it.
Study what Catholics have to say about Purgatory and you will find this: a total lack of understanding regarding Grace.

Study scriptures on Grace and you find something totally opposed to the very concept of purgatory. http://www.whatchristianswanttoknow.com/20-inspirational-bible-verses-about-grace/
Purgatory is a works based idea. It says, gosh I need to pay for my sins on earth. Grace is not a works based idea, but a gift based idea. ALL sin, past, present, future, every man, every woman, from Ad…

Acts 17 was the scripture I built my faith on when we moved to Texas. Ironically it is now the scripture that stands out as I contemplate not moving from where I am...
Acts 17:26NKJV: And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings...Good News Translation: From one human being he created all races of people and made them live throughout the whole earth. He himself fixed beforehand the exact times and the limits of the places where they would live.

Complete Jewish Bible: "From one man he made every nation living on the entire surface of the earth, and he fixed the limits of their territories and the periods when they would flourish...
Keith Moore asked a question that astounded me in it's simplicity: "Are you the Lord or is He?" Many people have Jesus as their savior but not their Lord. They go where they want, when the want, because the feel like …

Sunday 9:00 AM | God's Promotion Pastor George Pearsons 02/17/13

Promotion Pastor changed his message just to address the very struggle I’ve been dealing with for months. It’s a struggle that came to a head recently and it is causing me to come to a fork in the road soon. I’ve talked it over with JoAnn and Flavia.
I’ve been mad at my company. Ready to leave for their flagrant lack of integrity. How can I continue to work for a company that deals with people this way?  Maybe I should just leave. I’m on the verge of a promotion there, but then I’ll have to be the leader representing a company that isn’t doing right by people. Then I keep staring at the Word of the Lord from Kenneth Copeland for 2013: “Stay where you are. Stay steady. Why? Your greatest blessing ever is at hand…” I’ve tried to ignore it, I’ve tried…

Darrell's Reading List

Here are some books I've been reading lately:
  • Hacker: The Outlaw Chronicles (here) by Ted Dekker (Author). The story of a young Hacker girl, who went on a wild adventure into the supernatural realm beyond trying to save her mom, but saved her self too in the process.
  • Saint: A Paradise Novel (here) by Ted Dekker (Author). He's an assassin, or is he? He finds a secret to his past that unlocks supernatural abilities, at a cost.
